Boy Pick Up: The Movie in Theaters This June 6

Every Friday, my family would always watch Bubble Gang just for the Boy Pick-up Segment.  I'm sure the rest of the fans of kids, teens and adults are as excited as we are that this nationwide phenomenon is hitting the silver screen on June 6, 2012.

Due to the success and growing popularity of Boy-Pick Up, GMA Films and Regal Entertainment Inc. brings the wacky multi-talented Ogie Alcasid his first time title role after over 25 years of his career.

Ogie is both thrilled and proud to have Solenn Hausaff as his leading lady in the movie.  He shared that Solenn is not only good-looking, she is also talented.  He also discovered that she has a crazy fun side that's unmatched by the rest of the crew.

The movie is sure to be a hit with Sam Pinto as Neneng B, Gwen Zamora, Jackie Rice, Ellen Adarna and Sarah Lahbati.   They will also be joined by Antonio Aquitania, Boy 2 Quizon, Diego, Moymoy Palaboy, Eri Neeman, Pepe Smith and Lilia Cuntapay.  Ogie's long time friend, Asian TV Best Comedy Actor, Michael V.will also make a special participation as McBits.

Ogie assures the fans that they the movie will bring them an hour and forty five minutes of laughter.  More than just pick-up lines, they will be music and more.  Unlike in the skits, watching the movie will reveal more of who Boy Pick-up is.  There will be an underground battle among Pikapistas an Boy-Pick up in wooing the beautiful Neneng B (Sam Pinto).  But little do we know that  Boy Pick-up lives a normal an solitary life.  When Boy Pick-up's landlady asked him to love her in exchange for several months of rent due, he is forced to find a new job.  He then becomes a pastry chef owned by Angel (Solenn Heusaff) and falls in love with her.

Unknown to Boy Pick-up, a dark force known as Bagwis (Dennis Trillo) is plotting to destroy him and his love life in order to crush him in his pikapista battles.  I'm sure we all want to know "Bakit?"  Let's all watch Boy Pick Up: The Movie under the direction of Dominic Zapata to find out.  =D

Pet Passion Dog Shop: Dog Grooming a.k.a. Lychee's Make Over

We always buy our dog supplies at Hobbies of Asia in Macapagal.  So when we were looking for a place to go for Lychee's dog grooming we decided to try Pet Passion Dog Shop.  

They offer dog grooming for only 300 pesos.  I guess that is why they are many customers.  The location is pretty convenient too because it is near SM Mall of Asia.  So when Kurt and I went to attend the Go Nuts Donut's Donut Talk at their SM Mall of Asia branch, we left Lychee at  Pet Passion Dog Shop.  It was around 5:30 pm.  We were told to come back for her around 7 p.m.

We initially wanted a Puppy Cut  but we were told that Lychee has too many mats.  They asked if we were okay with a Summer Cut.  Since it was really hot anyway, we agreed.

The Dog Grooming was pretty good.  But, Kurt noticed that the her eat fur wasn't at the same lengths.  They   snipped it quick though.  The cut was clean.  We didn't see any bald spots of rashes with Lychee except on her butt.  Kurt says that's normal because the shaver gets to hot when too many dogs are groomed simultaneously.  It healed within a few days.

Overall, we were very satisfied with the service especially the price.  We'll probably go back again if we need more grooming in the future.

Movie Review: Man In Black III in 3D

Ten years after the sequel, Men in Black is back for its third movie.  As a science fiction we've seen aliens and cool weapons in before so Man in Black III adds time travelling in the plot to make it more exciting.  Did it work?

Man in Black III still has the action, humor and suspense.  I love how they made the plot work and it related to the previous Men in Black movies.  It had the right amount of action.  It had less humor but its still good.

The movie unravels more of both Agent J played excellently by Will Smith and Agent K.  Although I still think that the Smith and Jones pairing is the best, Young Agent K starred by Josh Brolin portrayed an interesting character too.

As for the 3D, it was totally unnecessary for the movie.  I felt like watching I was watching it in 2D although it was in 3D for the whole duration of the movie.  It didn't affect the sensation of watching it.

Bottomline, I suggest you watch this movie.  It's worth the watch especially if you've missed the Men in Black in action.  But if you want to save some bucks, better go with just 2D.

Japanese Drama Review: Proposal Daikusen or Operation Love

Proposal Daikusen or Operation Love is a Japanese drama with 11 episodes aired in 2007 and one special on 2008.  It is a drama series with a beautiful message and moral lesson.

The story starts in a wedding where Iwasa Ken starred by Tomohisa Yamashita watches his childhood friend Rei Yoshida casted by Masami Nagasawa and Tetsuya Tada played by Naohito Fujiki happily getting married.  Ken feels so much regret that he was not able to convey his feelings for her.  

The whole story is centered with Iwasa Ken.  The drama relied almost entirely on the acting of Tomohisa Yamashita and he did well!  I've watched his other dramas and he is one of my favorites.  I could feel the emotions in the drama.  The drama was very moving that I felt it has changed my life.  It's the kind of series that sticks by you.

Watching it makes me sad because it reminds me of my childhood friend too.  He is as pitiful as Iwasa Ken.  He has forgotten how brave and responsible he once was.  I hope he can have a second chance though.  Because watching him makes me feel as saddened as watching Iwase Ken's failed attempts over and over.  

Movie Review: Dark Shadows

The combo of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp makes Dark Shadows a movie everyone would want to watch even to those who have not watched the original TV series like myself.

Dark Shadows begins in a mellow set up and turns comical as soon as Barnabas Collins played by Johnny Depp shows up.  In fact, I find the genre of this movie quite confusing.  Only Barnabas Collins seems to bring out humor in the entire movie.  While other characters would depict a creepy yet shallow personality.

There were many scenes which I find unnecessary and there are some unexplained and puzzling parts too.  I also found it weird that the scene would be comical and then suddenly turn into something disturbing.  But overall, the performance by Johnny Depp and Eva Green who stars as Angelique Bouchard were able to uplift the enjoyment of the movie still despite the faulty plot.  It's still brings a bundle of joy to the viewers and it is quite entertaining to watch.

Hyundai Run for a Cause 2: Awesome FREE run Experience this 2012!

Thanks to a prompt tip of a friend, Kurt and I were among the 26,000 who were able to register for the Hyundai Run for a Cause 2.  The registration was done online so it was quick and easy.    We provided our information and got the option to choose our cause.  Each cause was represented by a singlet color.  I chose education which in red because I believe that the country will progress will.  But despite the neat process of registration, they ran out of singlets so we only got to claim out loot bag and race bib.

It was our first time to run at the Quirino Grand Stand area.  For our warm up, we decided to walk to the venue instead of taking public transport.  We arrived just in time.

There were a lot of tents set up from the Baggage counter to the Sponsors.  Even though it's a FREE run, it was complete even with portalets.

We didn't want to squeeze in the crowd due to the tremendous heat but the brothers Phil and James Younghusband were there to represent Youth Development through Sports.  There were also cheering leading performances performed by various Universities to entertain the crowd.

The run was segregated in batches.  Each batch was signified by a sign.

The road was closed just for the run.  It was amazing to see a lot of people take up the entire road space.

There were a lot of runners and walkers as well.  I found it difficult to run consistently because many were walking.  There were some with kids, strollers and dogs too.  Since we were belonged to the latter batches, the sun was already beaming at us so it was really hot.

There were adequate water stations giving bottled water.  Although a lot of people left their bottles in the middle of the streets, they were quickly gathered by garbage collectors so there were no litters in this run. =)

There were adequate signs and ushers too.

After everyone has reached the finish line, we were surprised by a shower of confetti.  A job well done for Hyundai.  I'm sure more people will patronize their brand now. =D

Taiwan Drama Review: Skip Beat!

Since I started to blogging, I rarely have the time to watch dramas.  But, Skip Beat! is just to difficult to resists.  Skip Beat! is based on a popular Japanese Shojo Manga.  What I watched is the Skip Beat! Taiwan Drama.  It is very faithful to the original manga story.  There will also be a Korean adaptation of this too.  

The casting of  Skip Beat! made it very appealing.  The main male roles are played by Super Junior (SuJu) heartthrob members Siwon as Dun Helian and Donghae as Bu Po Shang.  While, the female lead named Gong Xi is starred by Ivy Chen.

The chemistry between the Siwon and Ivy Chen is awesome!  I couldn't stop watching until the very last episode.  I find the plot both dramatic and comical.  The common expectation from Taiwan dramas are also present: exaggerations and silly animations.  Nevertheless, its quite amusing if the characters are cute.  This is a good watch!
