I recall when we were little, we used to enjoy sugary breakfast cereals. My personally favorite was the Lucky Charms and Rice Krispies. Later on, as we grew Older, we noticed our bodies are having slower metabolic mechanism. Thus, we looked for a better alternative - oatmeal. We have different variants of oatmeal at home to adopt to our schedules. Every Sundays, one of us would cook the ordinary oatmeal for breakfast all of us in just one batch. As Sundays are a school and non-work day, all of us are usually in the house in the morning and we have breakfast together as a family bonding time. For our usual business days, we would just use the instant ones so we could just add hot water and we already have a heavy, hearty and healthy breakfast.
Since my mom has been suffering from hypertension (a disease that has plagued our family for generations), we're having oatmeal for breakfast more and more. So, I could really relate with Chef Lawrence Zafra when he shared that he was a survivor of heart attack. Because of that horrible experience, he has made oatmeal his regumentary breakfast ever since.

But, having more options is better. Basically, it's almost the same recipe as Arroz Caldo but you substitute it with oats. The texture is almost the same. The only differences are: (1) oatmeal absorbs more salt so try to bare little less saltiness for healthsake (2) oatmeal cooks faster than rice (3) oatmeal is lower in glycemic index.
